Our client is the market leading valuation service to lenders across the property technology and financial technology industries. They have more than doubled in size, and are currently making ‘significant investment’ in their product portfolio – looking for sizeable growth & catalogue strengthening over the next few years.

They are presently seeking a Pre-Sales Consultant (office based or hybrid) to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity to support this ambitous growth strategy through the sale of new and existing products; principally into an established and loyal customer base of mortgage lenders, housing associations, private rental companies and other users of property data.

Suitable applicants could be working for either:

  1. Mortgage lender in a business/change/transformation management capacity within mortgage risk.
  2. Mortgage software/credit automation/data & insight provider/risk software company as a Consultant in the financial risk space, and ‘ideally’ started supporting sales activity (this could include data science consultants); a Product person who knows how to take a risk/data product to market; or a Solution Architect/Analyst.

Salary: up to £75,000 basic + 10% bonus + comprehensive benefits package. Location: head office is in London, Tower Bridge, SE1 – but they support hybrid working (2-3 days in office per week) if preferred.

Job description

Our Pre-Sales team works with our sales team, product managers and project delivery teams to grow revenue from new and existing clients. They apply expert knowledge of the mortgage lending and residential property, our clients’ business models and our own products and services, in a solution-sales environment. The support the sale AND the early stages of the delivery project.

This is a dynamic role, in a small but established team, allowing the consultant to work on multiple commercial propositions simultaneously. Previous commercial or sales experience is advantageous but not essential, but you must be client-focussed, have a fine attention to detail and be both creative and a “completer/finisher.”

The role would particularly suit someone with mortgage lending experience who is keen to make a first move from business analysis, project management or consultancy, into a sales/commercial role, where they can gain the necessary experience and support to accelerate their career.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop go-to-market documents including sales decks, software demos, benefits cases and other promotional materials for new and existing software and data products.
  • Respond to structured tender (RFP/RFI/ITT) opportunities.
  • Participate in client workshops to identify needs and opportunities
  • Support Account Directors and Managers in closing individual sales opportunities.
  • Use market and client knowledge to represent client needs into the company’s product development process.
  • Support B2B marketing activity to generate a healthy sales pipeline for the company.

Essential skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative thinker who is also a completer/finisher
  • Some experience and understanding of either MORTGAGE LENDING or DATA ANALYTICS or RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY at a market level.
  • Self-starter, with good time management; comfortable working across several different activities simultaneously.

Desired skills

  • Exposure to product and software development life cycles.
  • Experience of working inside financial services as an employee or consultant.
  • Knowledge of consumer banking, particularly residential mortgages or buy-to-let.
  • Understanding of credit risk and the practical use of models and data analytics
  • Good skills in creating and delivering knowledge-based presentations
  • Creative in the development of new market propositions, including the development of robust business cases, estimating market size, and client benefits, etc.
  • Some experience in supporting B2B marketing activity, such as symposiums, events, social media messaging, white paper publications, etc.
